Dr. Elizabeth Arguelles is a board certified breast surgeon who specializes in the care of patients with both benign and malignant breast disease. She is the first breast surgeon in Collier County to receive Hidden Scar Certification- a program that focuses on improving cosmetic outcome for patients while preserving outstanding oncologic results. Her Hidden Scar Certification exemplifies her commitment to use the most advanced techniques to offer her patients treatment that is as unique as they are. She is also trained in Oncoplastic Surgery - the art of combining plastic surgery tissue transfer techniques with cancer surgery to treat cancer, while preserving the natural form of the breast.
As a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and a participant in the Mastery of Breast Surgery Program, Dr. Arguelles upholds the highest standard of care for her breast patients. In Connecticut, Dr. Arguelles was a key leader in the creation of the Lawrence + Memorial Breast Health Center where she led the center from concept to full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers. Dr. Arguelles is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with her family.
Dr. Lea Blackwell MD, FACS is originally from Panama City, FL. She graduated from the University of Florida and attended medical school at Louisiana State University in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was a surgery resident at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana with the LSU Department of Surgery. She completed a Society of Surgical Oncology accredited breast surgery fellowship at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She has been a surgeon in Fort Myers, FL since graduating from her breast surgery fellowship in 2008. She has served on the Breast Leadership Panel for Lee Health to develop a multidisciplinary breast clinic. The multidisciplinary breast clinic obtained NAPBC accreditation from the American College of Surgeons in 2015. Dr. Blackwell takes care of over 150 breast cancers each year. She is fortunate to work with Ellen Poage, a nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience providing excellence in care for lymphedema. Blackwell Breast Surgery is a surgical practice developed to provide skillful, high quality, custom care for individuals needing surgical breast care.
Dr. Rock has over 10 years of experience performing oncoplastic breast surgery that preserves and can even enhance the appearance of a woman’s natural breast while safely removing cancerous tissue. While in Atlanta, he helped pioneer Nipple Sparing Mastectomy and has helped refine that procedure to benefit more women who require or choose to have a mastectomy as part of their breast cancer treatment. He has personally performed a Nipple Sparing Mastectomy procedure on over 500 women. Dr. Rock has used various techniques to help hundreds of women avoid unsightly, disfiguring scars, and was recently honored by receiving Hidden Scar Surgery Certification recognizing his expertise and contributions to the technique. In addition to minimizing the scarring associated with surgery, he has developed an Enhanced Recovery After Surgery program that minimizes or eliminates pain after surgery. Dr. Rock is involved in Breast Cancer clinical research and has presented his research at national breast cancer meetings.
